Greystones - Coffee House, Art Gallery &
Self-Catering - is located in Glenridding, at
the southern edge of Ullswater and the foot of Helvellyn. Julian and Nicola Sharman own and
run this three-in-one business, the coffee house
and gallery standing alongside the stream that
tumbles through the centre of the village and the
nearby Ullswater House.
The fully licensed coffee house serves a varied range of splendid home baking, along
with jacket potatoes and hot and cold snacks and
meals to cater for all appetites; the carrot cake is
just one of the scrumptious goodies on offer. In the
same building, the well-lit gallery space is a showcase
for pictures and sculptures, supporting both local talent
and visiting/guest artists (Tel: 01768 638159).
Ullswater House provides ideal self-catering
holiday accommodation for groups of 2 to 10 guests. On the first floor are a double bedroom and
two triples, while above are an open-plan lounge/diner and kitchen, a utility/drying room, a
bathroom with shower over the bath and a separate shower cubicle. Well decorated and furnished
throughout, the house is the perfect base for discovering the hidden treasures of the Ullswater Valley and
the beauty of the Lake District National Park.
