A warm Lakeland welcome awaits visitors to the Manor House Inn & Coast 2 Coast
Bar, along with comfortable accommodation, delicious
home-cooked food, real ales, a summer café and
a pleasant beer garden.
Dating from 1720, the Manor House is one of the oldest buildings in St Bees, full of
charm and period character, and the next-door Coast 2 Coast Bar occupies the even older former
Royal Oak Inn. The two premises have been run since September
2006 by Margaret (Maz) and Jim Fee, their
daughters Rebecca and Claire and their son Ian, and
they and their customers ensure that there's always a real buzz
about the place.
The bar is open from 4pm on Monday (earlier if a
Bank Holiday) then all day for the rest of the
week. Rebecca is in charge of the bar, where Cumberland Ale is
the regular among the 3 or 4 real ales on tap.
Claire and Ian are the stars in the kitchen, producing
a good selection of dishes including the very popular Sunday lunchtime carvery. Food is served
from 12 to 4 (not Monday) and 6.30 to 9 (not Sunday).
Eight beautifully decorated and furnished en suite bedrooms provide a very comfortable
base for exploring the Western Lakes and fells, or for venturing on to the 190-mile Coast 2 Coast
walk from St Bees across the Pennines to Robin Hood's Bay on the North Yorkshire coast. Maz and
Jim also run a B&B with 5 en suite rooms at Jasmine House in nearby Moor Row, a five-minute
drive away. Jasmine House (Tel: 01946 815795) was voted the best B&B in Copeland for 2006.
