Ponderosa Guest House enjoys a tranquil setting among the fells and
valleys of the northern part of the Lake District National Park. The handsome
house sits in its own grounds on a working sheep and dairy farm and provides a
perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. Uldale has been
Margaret Wilson's home for over 40 years; she has been welcoming Bed & Breakfast
guests for 25 years, first in the farmhouse and then 15 years ago Ponderosa was
built and was worked in with the farmhouse. She moved into Ponderosa 3 years ago
and ceased to use the farmhouse.The self-catering has been running since 1998.
Two en suite B&B rooms in the main house are
open all year; children over 12 are welcome, but the house cannot accept dogs. A
hearty English breakfast starts the day, and guests can enjoy a traditional
home-cooked dinner if pre-arranged with Margaret. The self-catering
accommodation, for up to five guests, is in an adjacent cottage equipped with
all the mod cons. Both the B&B and the self-catering facilities are perfect for
touring or walking holidays, and an ideal stopover between England and Scotland.
