In December 2007 the Richardson family celebrate 40 years at the
Fish Hotel. The hotel combines period charm and character with modern
comforts in a glorious setting, a popular base for
tourists, walkers, climbers and lovers of the great
outdoors. It lies a short walk from Buttermere and Crummock Water at the foot of Honister
Pass. Buttermere is a beautiful lake in a dramatic landscape,
with wonderful walks, and superb views of the eastern
towers of Fleetwith Pike and the great fell wall made up of
High Crag, High Still and Red Pike.
The guest accommodation comprises ten upstairs rooms, all with en suite facilities, direct-dial phone,
radio, hairdryer and hot drinks tray. The day starts with
a generous cooked breakfast, and packed lunches can be
provided to take on a day's walking, climbing, fishing or exploring the local sights and places of
interest. Six real ales, including Jennings Bitter, Haystacks
and Catbells, come from local breweries, and bar food
ranging from sandwiches to full meals, is served in the hotel
bar lunchtime and evening.
