Middle Ruddings Country Inn & Restaurant
is a high-quality establishment set in its own
grounds close to the main A66, a short walk from Bassenthwaite and a short drive from
Keswick. After running a successful Bed & Breakfast
guest house, Liz and Andy McMaster became owners here in September 2005. In their 100-year-old home
they offer the very best in accommodation, food and drink.
The 13 en suite guest bedrooms include two family rooms,
and bookings can be made on a B&B or Dinner, B&B basis.
Three rotating ales from Cumbrian breweries are on
tap in the bar, and in the 65-cover dining room patrons
can enjoy delicious food cooked by Liz and the team and
served from 12 to 2 and from 6 to 9. The printed menu and
the daily specials provide a mouthwatering choice that puts the
emphasis on prime local produce: typical dishes could include potted shrimps
from Silloth; fillet of Scottish salmon with a red pesto
layer, wrapped in locally produced pancetta; roast haunch
of venison; Keskadale beef burger; steak & Cumbrian ale
pie; and asparagus, garlic & wild mushroom risotto. Room
should be left for a scrumptious dessert such as chocolate fudge
or bread & butter pudding.
