Leaseholders Stephen and Vanessa have brought a breath of fresh air to the
Braddylls Arms, which stands on the Market Place in the delightful
town of Ulverston. The inn is open for drinks all
day Monday to Saturday and at lunchtime on Sunday, and the bar choice includes two real aIes, one
of them always from the local Ulverston Brewery. Tables and
chairs are set out at the front for alfresco sipping, and there's
more outside seating in a landscaped area at the back with heaters and
a canopy. A variety of snacks, including sandwiches,
filled baguettes, panini and burgers, is served between 11.30 and
6 every day except Sunday.
For guests staying overnight, the inn has four
excellent upstairs rooms - two doubles (one en suite), a double/twin and
a single. The very reasonable tariff includes a generous
cooked breakfast. Thursdays and Fridays bring live entertainment to the inn - open mike night on Thursday, karaoke on Friday.
There's always plenty to see and do in Ulverston, including the Laurel & Hardy Museum, the
Lakes Glass centre, the Church of St Mary and walks along the
canal towpath or up Hoad Hill for a panoramic view of the
town. And there's no more delightful starting point for a
day's exploring than the Braddylls Arms.
