Tanglewood is a family-run caravan park on
the fringes of the Lake District National Park, in
a tree-sheltered setting a mile inland from the pleasant small port and seaside resort of
Silloth-on-Solway. Mike and Jen Bowman and Mike's
parents Elaine and Norman have 11 modern static
holiday homes with plenty of space (32' X 12') with car parking beside each home. They are fully
equipped except for bed linen, with one latge end bedrooms and two singles, electric lighting, hot and
cold water, toilet, shower, gas fire, cooker, fridge, TV and panel heating.
Tanglewood also has space for up to 30 touring caravans and motor homes, with electric
hook-ups and water/drainage facilities provided, and campers are equally welcome. Modern
tourist facilities comprise toilets, hot & cold water in washbasins, showers, shaver and hair-dryer
points, chemical disposal points, dishwashing facilities and an automated laundry room. The Coach
House has been converted into a licensed lounge bar open to Park clients and the public from 8pm
daily and from lunchtime on Saturday and Sunday. A children's games room adjoins the bar, and the site
also has a play area with swings and a sandpit.
Nearby Silloth is a delightful place with a sandy beach
and many other attractions, and the caravan park is
a perfect base for walking, touring and discovering
the superb natural beauty of the region.
Tanglewood, which is open all year except the month of February, is one of the best of its
kind, approved by the British Tourist Authority,
the Automobile Association, the Caravan & Camping
Club and the British Holiday & Home Parks Association.
