Argyll Trail Riding and Castle Riding Centre
were established by expert horsewoman Tove
Gray-Stephens 25 years ago, and has grown to
become one of the most renowned trail and riding
centres in Britain. Being in Argyll, it offers
truly memorable holidays amid some of the most wonderful scenery in Britain.
Come and join Tove and her son David for a ride in the hills
above Brenfield on well-trained and reliable horses. Beginner or advanced, you will
be entranced at how much more of the wonderful Argyll scenery you can
see from horseback. Discover the splendour of the West Highlands of Scotland!
Ride over Bens and through glens, ford rivers and burns and even ride out along
the shore to the sea. Everything from an hour's ride to a full day pub ride,
family holidays, weekend breaks and corporate events are available. Training and tuition
in all things equestrian including the up and coming sport of Le Trec. You could
try your hand at clay pigeon shooting also with expert tuition for the complete beginner or the expert.
For those who are more experienced riders there are three exciting and challenging
trails available. The week-long Wild Boar Trail
takes you through spectacular Dalriada, birthplace
of the Scottish nation. You will explore historic sites and old castles, gallop across
beaches, swim with the horses and climb mountains.
The Rob Roy Trail, which again lasts one
week, follows in the footsteps of Rob Roy McGregor and takes you from Inveraray Castle to
the foothills of Ben Nevis, passing through
historic Glencoe on the way. The Loch and Forest
Trail lasting six days follows ancient drove roads as
you discover hidden Argyll. In the evenings good
food in comfortable inns and hotels is provided
along the way.
The centre is fully licensed and approved by
all leading equestrian organisations, the staff
are friendly, helpful and knowledgable.
Argyll Trail Riding and Castle Riding Centre is on the coast just south of Lochgilphead, only
two hours drive from Glasgow.
