Just off the A75 Dumfries to Stranraer road you will find
Barnsoul Farm, a superb caravan and camping park that has everything for the
tourist. Passing through, or looking for a base from
which to explore beautiful Dumfries and Galloway,
the place has everything.
It has 50 pitches for tents and caravans, as well as chalets and Wigwam mountain
bothies/bunk houses. There is electricity and water throughout, plus
a modern, comfortable shower unit with mirror, seat,
basin etc, which is open 24 hours a day. There is also a
kitchen with gas cooker, fridge, microwave, laundry facilities
and constant hot water day and night.
The compact, comfortable and cosy mountain
bothies have been described as `camping without a
tent'. Constructed from timber, they have bunks for four
to six people. They are heated, and come with basic
furniture, cushions, mattresses, pillows, kettle, toaster and
fridge. Each one has an exterior patio with bench table and
stone barbecue. People using the bothies still have full use of
the site kitchen and its appliances.
Barnsoul has nearly 300 acres of paddocks,
woodland, and ponds, and is famous for its wildlife.
