Sitting in a quiet, rural spot in the Ewes Valley, the quaintly named Bush of Ewes is a picturesque stone-built farmhouse offering superb yet affordable B&B accommodation to people touring Dumfries and Galloway or the Scottish Borders. The farm itself extends to 2,000 acres of land, and supports Blackface sheep (Scotland's native breed) and Aberdeen Angus and Limousin suckler cows. It is owned and run by Jane and Stuart Fisher, who have farmed here for over eleven years, and who bring a wealth of knowledge not only to farming, but to providing genuine Scottish hospitality.

Guests are free to explore the farm and its surrounding countryside or, if they feel so inclined, they can just relax in the farmhouse's lounge and let the world go by! It sits close to the town of Langholm (`the Muckle Toon'), as well as Dumfries, Carlisle and Hawick, so makes the ideal base from which to explore the area.

There are three rooms on offer, all fully en suite and all immaculately decorated and furnished, with tea/coffee making facilities and central heating. As you would expect on a working farm, the breakfasts are hearty and filling, with only the freshest of local produce being used. Of course, lighter options are available if required, and packed lunches can be prepared by prior arrangement. There is plenty of secure parking space, plus a garden where you can sit and enjoy the fresh air, the feeling of calm and the scenery. The prices are all inclusive.

A self-catering cottage is also available. At one time a traditional shepherd's cottage, it has now been refurbished to an extremely high standard. It sits just half a mile from the farmhouse, and is available all year round. It sleeps four in absolute comfort in a double and a twin room, and well-behaved children and pets are more than welcome. It can be hired weekly, though short breaks are also available.

If you're looking for a holiday that is totally relaxing and far away from the bustle of modern life, then the Bush of Ewes - both the farmhouse B&B and the self-catering cottage - are for you. And if you're just passing through, then why not stop for the night at the farmhouse and experience genuine Scottish hospitality at its very best?
