North of Fort William, close to the junction where the A82 meets the A830, you will find The Bridge Café, a licensed eating establishment that combines great food with outstanding value for money. Formerly part of the Ben Nevis Distillery, it became a café six years ago, and was taken over in June 2006 by new owners, who have already added to its already enviable reputation.

It is open seven days a week in the summer months, and closed on Sunday in winter. The opening times are 9 am to 10 pm in summer and 9 am to 4.30 pm in winter. It seats up to 50 in absolute comfort, and you can choose from a printed menu or a daily specials board. It sits close to the Great Glen Way, and walkers - as well as tourists, cyclists, motor-cyclists and passers by - are more than welcome. The homemade soup - usually there are nine varieties! - is very popular, as is the all-day breakfast, steak and ale pie, fish and chips and pizzas. Vegetarian options are always available.

The produce used in the kitchen is sourced locally wherever possible, and takeaways are always available during opening hours. Children are more than welcome, and payment is by cash or cheque only. So if you're feeling hungry in Fort William, head for the Bridge Café, where you will find great food at amazing prices.
