Set just off the A9 thirteen miles north of Inverness, Evanton is a small village
standing almost on the shores of the Cromarty Firth. On
its main street you will find the Balconie
Inn, a superb small hotel that offers good
food, comfortable accommodation and great drink. It makes a great stopping off point when
travelling north or south for quality B&B accommodation, or even a
central base for exploring the area.
There are five rooms on offer, two of which are fully en
suite. Each one is comfortable and cosy while still having an air
of spaciousness about them. The tariff includes a hearty
Scottish breakfast, or something lighter if required.
The bar is open seven days a week for the sale of a wide
range of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. Monday,
Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday it opens from 11am, Thurday and
Friday from 1pm and on Sunday from 12.30pm. Bar snacks are
available, with the speciality of the House being delicious
homemade pizzas. The front area of the premises is undergoing a
complete refurbishment, with soft seating such as sofas and chairs,
creating a plush, stylish area where you can relax.
On Sunday evenings from 8 pm there is always a
'jamming session' where local musicians turn up with their instruments
to play traditional Scottish music - always an enjoyable
occasion. There is plenty of off-road parking, plus a patio area with heater.
