Bilbster Mains is a 1300-acre working farm straddling the delightful Wick River in a fertile
little valley just east of the famous wild brown
trout water Loch Watten. Jane and Donald Miller
have been here for 38 years and for 16 of those
have been offering self-catering accommodation in 2
delightful stone cottages - North Bilbster Cottage and
Gardener's Cottage. Both have a 4-star rating from the STB and can
sleep up to 4 guests and are comprehensively equipped
with everything you will need, including a fully fitted kitchen
with microwave and dishwasher, colour TV and video, and
oil-fired central heating with a peat/log-burning stove. Children
are welcome and kennels are available.
The cottages provide a tranquil and comfortable
base from which to explore this scenic county or
to participate in the many activities on offer. The area is an angler's paradise
- Caithness alone has more than 100 lochs and Sutherland
has nearer 1000! The cost of day and week permits for
loch fishing are extremely reasonable and boats can be hired
for you through outlets on some of the larger lochs. The area
is also popular with shooters. A day's rough shooting
at Bilbster could be a red-letter day in anyone's game book.
