Centrally located within the village of Tongue,
the Ben Loyal Hotel enjoys outstanding views
out over the unspoiled Sutherland landscape. Many
of the rooms command outstanding views out over the Kyle
of Tongue, Ben Loyal, Ben Hope and the ruin of Castle
Varrich, which sits on the hill line opposite the hotel.
The restaurant, the An Garbh, has picture windows
which frame similarly wonderful views. The restaurant is very
well known for its outstanding cuisine, using predominately
local produce; beef and lamb from Caithness and Sutherland,
fresh fish from Scrabster, venison from local estates, oysters,
crabs and lobsters from the Kyle of Tongue and prawns
from nearby Loch Eriboll. Do book ahead, but if you are unlucky, don't despair - the full menu is
available in the Bistro Bar from the day the hotel opens on
1st March until it closes at the end of the season. The
Ben Loyal has 11 centrally heated en suite bedrooms, each
one tastefully decorated, and some containing original
artwork by local artists. All have colour television, direct
dial telephone, hairdryer and hospitality tray.
