Set in the heart of Royal Deeside, The Auld
Kirk is a superb small hotel housed in a former
Victorian "kirk" - or church - the oldest such building
in Ballater. It has recently been refurbished to
an extremely high standard, and boasts six en suite rooms, each individually furnished and
decorated, making them stylish and comfortable. The interior blends
contemporary styling with the many period features that have been retained, such
as high, timbered ceilings and leaded windows, creating an atmosphere
of informal elegance.
Food is the focus of attention at The Auld Kirk, and dining is a
real pleasure in the restaurant, where all the produce used in the kitchen
is fresh and locally sourced.
This small hotel is the ideal base from which to explore an
area where history, heritage and sport combine to give the holiday of a lifetime.
Being situated within the Cairngorms National Park, golf,
shooting, angling, walking and a host of other outdoor activities are on
the doorstep. Whilst set in the beauty of the Grampian Highlands,
near to the royal residence of Balmoral, the Auld Kirk is less than
an hours drive from the bustling city of Aberdeen.
The Auld Kirk offers Highland hospitality at its very best.
The service is efficient, courteous and friendly, and the food -
naturally enough - is out of this world!
