The Black Lion Hotel enjoys superb views overlooking beautiful Cardigan Bay. On
clear days Snowdonia is visible and the
bottle-nose dolphins can regularly be seen swimming
and playing in the bay. The main bar dates back to the late 17th Century, with the hotel added
in the early 19th Century, at the same time and built of the same stone as the quay of New
Quay. Within the bar is three seperate areas. You can sit overlooking the bay in the small room known
as `Captain Cat's Lookout', soak up the atmosphere in the
main bar area or make use of the dining area and `Dylan's'
beyond. There is also a spacious beer garden with children's play
area and stunning sea views. Part of the hotel houses a
collection of items relating to the great poet Dylan Thomas, who
spent much of his time at the Black Lion whilst he was living in
New Quay. The hotel rooms are all larger than the average
hotel room, most have en-suite facilities and are
comfortably furnished. All are equipped with TVs and tea/coffee
making facilities and half of the rooms have sea views.
