Llangurig is the highest village in mid-Wales and it's here that you'll find the appealing Blue Bell Inn, a charming grade 2 listed building dating back to the 1500s and still retaining many of its original features. This friendly hostelry is run by Liz and Dewi Jones, a popular local couple who ran the Llanidloes Rugby Club before taking over here in July 2007.

Liz is an accomplished chef and has made the inn a magnet for lovers of good food. She offers a good variety of bar meals served at both lunch-time and evening as well as an extensive restaurant menu for those with a heartier appetite. This offers a tasty Thai Cod & Prawn Rosti amongst the starters, and a choice of main courses ranging from grills, meat and fish dishes to vegetarian alternatives such as Glamorgan Sausages, Thai Mango Curry and a Five Bean Chilli with rice and chips, all at very reasonable prices. On Sundays, roast dinners are added to the menu. Food is served from noon until 9pm, daily. To accompany your meal, there's a good selection of fine wines, along with a choice of 2 real ales - Bulty Bach and a rotating guest ale.

The Bar area is traditionally furnished with an original fireplace, cosy settle and flagstone floor. The bar stocks a wide range of beers, wines and spirits, as well as seasonal real ales, some of which are brewed in Wales.

For sporting customers, the Blue Bell has a games room with pool table, dart boards, dominoes, cards and fruit machine. Whilst playing, says Liz "why not look at our photo wall with a selection of pictures of our locals, some of which I am sure they would prefer not be seen!"

The Blue Bell also offers Bed and Breakfast accommodation with 9 tastefully decorated and furnished bedrooms available, all of which are equipped with colour television, radio and tea/coffee making facilities. The double, twin and family rooms are all en suite, and the inn also has single bedrooms with washbasins and a communal bathroom adjacent. One of the rooms is on the ground floor. The Inn is child friendly and welcomes families; all major credit cards are accepted.
