Cocheston is an attractive village lying to the northeast of Pembroke and it is here you will find an outstanding hostelry, The Brewery Inn. From the outside the inn looks very inviting indeed with its creeper-covered walls and arched windows. The interior is very pleasing too with its natural slate floor, exposed stone walls, settle seating and feature fireplace. This picturesque old building dates back some 400 years when it began life as a coaching inn. Some people have claimed that it is the most picturesque hostelry in the whole county and anyone who sees it usually agrees! But it is not only extremely pretty, it offers the very best in food, drink and convivial company as it is a popular place with locals and visitors alike.

Mine hosts are Melinda and Russell, a friendly and welcoming couple who arrived here in the late summer of 2006. Russell is a professional chef whose menu features an enticing array of appetising dishes, mostly created with locally sourced ingredients such as Welsh Black Beef and locally caught fish - fish dishes are a speciality of the house, Amongst the starters you'll find a home-made soup of the day and an authentic Welsh Rarebit. For the main course, the choice ranges from a delicious fish and chips with home-made beer batter and home-made tartare sauce, to Cajun Spiced Chicken Breast and a vegetarian Creamy Mushroom, Leek and Thyme Pie. If you prefer a savoury, there's a Welsh cheese board with a selection of the best Welsh cheeses. Food is served every lunchtime (noon to 2pm), and evening (6pm to 9pm), except for all day Monday and Sunday evening. The restaurant seats 18 but customers can dine throughout the inn. Because of the restaurant's popularity, booking is advisable at all times. All major credit cards are accepted apart from American Express and Diners. For real ale lovers, the bar has 2 real brews on tap, Theakston's Best and a rotating guest ale. A Pub Quiz is held every Wednesday evening from 9.30pm.

If you are planning to stay in this attractive part of the county, the inn has 3 fully equipped self-catering flats available all year round. Each of them can sleep up to 6 people and one has full wheelchair access.
