The Elan Valley is 70 square miles of the Cambrian Mountains in mid-Wales - a
special area for wildlife with reservoirs and
dams, rivers, woodlands and moorland. There is a well signposted Visitor Centre open from
the middle of March to the end of October every
day from 10am to 5.30pm which has a wildlife
exhibition, café, shop, toilets, a large car park suitable
for coaches and cars and a picnic area beside the River Elan. The Valley has several
leafleted walks and many guided walks and wildlife events are led by the team of
countryside rangers.
