Blackmore Farm Cottage is a delightful
former farmhouse built in the 17th century and
now boasting a Grade II listed building status. It stands on the edge of Lydlinch village,
noted for its large Common, and enjoys lovely views along the Vale
of Blackmore. Penny and Keith Howes moved here in 2003 after
Keith took early retirement from a career in construction engineering.
They have spared no expense in making this a top quality bed &
breakfast establishment, its furnishings and amenities exceeding a
4-Diamond standard.
There are 2
beautifully appointed guest bedrooms, both with
en suite facilities, TV and hospitality tray. In the morning, guests
are offered a choice of a very generous English or Continental breakfast special dietary requirements can
be catered for given notice. Guests at Blackmore Farm
Cottage also have the use of the charming garden at the rear of
the house which is well-provided with garden table and
chairs. Lydlinch is just a couple of miles from the unspoilt
market town of Sturminster Newton where Thomas Hardy
lived from 1876 to 1878 with his first wife Emma and enjoyed
the "happiest time of his life".
