Located in the rural outskirts of Ringwood, The Auld
Kennels is a picture postcard dwelling with thatched roof, latticed windows, a patio
bedecked with shrubs and potted plants, and a
colourful cottage garden. It stands on a rise commanding grand views
across Moortown, the Meadows, Hampshire Hatches and down
to the River Avon. To the rear, open farmland extends
to Crow Hill, about one mile and a half away, where access
to the New Forest can be gained.
The Auld Kennels was built around 1900 as two cottages to house the Water Bailiff and Kennel Master
of the local Ott
er Hound Pack. It is now the home
of Lorraine Binfield who has been welcoming bed & breakfast guests here
since 1997. The accommodation enjoys a 4-Diamonds rating
and several room combinations are available: double, twin
or family room, all with en suite facilities, colour TV
and hospitality tray. Guests have the use of a large
and comfortable lounge with beamed ceilings and a
hearty English breakfast is included in the tariff. Evening meals
are available on request and consist of 3 courses of
home prepared fare followed by coffee and mints; Lorraine is
also happy to arrange special celebration meals if given notice.
