Enjoy a long scenic walk by the
sea, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
(p 139) is the ideal setting for such an
activity set against the backdrop of the Preseli
Mountains, which is where the Stonehenge
bluestones are said to have originated. Visit a
place of historic interest, among these is the
ruined Elizabethan mansion that is Carew
Castle (p 153), along with the
remains of Lamphey Bishops Palace (p
154) and the more complete Pembroke Castle
(p 152). Take in a spot of wildlife;
there are plenty of bird watching spots from
which to gaze at our feathered friends, none
better than at the Ramsay Island Nature
Reserve at St David’s (p 147) or at
Carew Mill Pond, near the castle. Then
why not stop off at one of the many quaint pubs
and b&bs along your journey for a well-earned
rest.
